POLYCARBONATE 17-22 MELT CLEAR
This material can be compared to branded materials such as Samsung Infino® SC-1220R or Lexan® 121R-111
Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic resin commonly used for injection molding and extrusion applications. Polycarbonate is an engineering thermoplastic. It has great mechanical (high impact strength and good dimensional stability), electrical, thermal and optical properties. It is noted for its glass-like transparency, even having better light transmission characteristics than many kinds of glass. However it does have low scratch-resistance, so a hard coating is applied to polycarbonate eyewear lenses and polycarbonate exterior automotive components. The biggest advantage of polycarbonate, compared to other plastics, is the strength combined with being light weight. It is only one-sixth as heavy as glass and one-third the weight of acrylic. Polycarbonate is nearly unbreakable, even being used for bulletproof windows and bank enclosures. The disadvantage is that it is more expensive than glass or acrylic.
