Polyethylene is a common thermoplastic resin typically used for injection molding applications. Polymers with densities less than .941 are considered low density.
FEATURES
-
Excellent resistance to dilute and concentrated Acids, Alcohols, Bases and Esters
-
Good resistance to Aldehydes, Ketones and Vegetable Oils

APPLICATIONS
LDPE is most commonly used for plastic bags. It is widely used for manufacturing various containers, dispensing bottles, wash bottles, tubing, plastic bags for computer components, and various molded laboratory equipment. It is translucent to opaque, virtually unbreakable, and very flexible.
Most common uses for LDPE:
-
Trays and general purpose containers
-
Corrosion-resistant work surfaces
-
Parts that need to be weldable and machinable
-
Parts that require flexibility, for which it serves very well
-
Very soft and pliable parts
-
Six-pack rings
-
LDPE is typically used as the water-proof inner and outer layer for juice and milk cartons.
-
Computer hardware parts
-
Playground slides
-
Plastic wraps
